The origins of the word quality go back to Anglo-Norman and Old French, qualité (of things), an attribute or property. It can represent a personal attribute, a trait or a feature of a person’s character, an attribute considered desirable and, interestingly, a virtue. In terms of non-personal attributes, it relates to the “standard or nature of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence possessed by a thing”.
